Let's throw out this assumption: almost every Finn knows that muscle training is important for health. Yet – and sports experts wiser than me can confirm this – less than 20% of Finns go to the gym.
Is the gym the only place to build muscle and increase strength? Of course not, but it's easily perceived as such.
So why don't 80% go to gyms?
Do you recognize yourself in these reasons:
Going to the gym and working out is difficult. And certainly not fun.
There is no time. Or at least there doesn't seem to be any.
I don't feel like I belong in the gym community. The traditional gym environment just doesn't appeal to me.
These are the most common obstacles that EGYM has found over 15 years of research and reflection: Do people really know how to do strength training? How do we make it easier, more effective and more fun? How can we help both clients and instructors?
Answer: an AI-based strength training ecosystem where all the extra work can be outsourced.
Let's start to unpack the topic further from the perspective of someone who mainly avoids gyms and muscle training - that is, what I personally like about MyHub. And how MyHub brings that famous "something new" to the traditional gym.
Gym equipment: Eight pieces of equipment, everything important included
MyHub features eight EGYM gym machines. When you arrive, you'll see all the equipment you need at a glance. These eight machines will help you train your most important large muscle groups, which are essential for performance and health.
GOOD TO KNOW!
The most important muscle groups:
Body extensors and flexors, i.e. back and abdominal muscles
Lower limb knee extensors and flexors
The muscles of the upper back and chest, which play a crucial role in maintaining posture
Glutes – a group of the most important and strongest muscles in the human body
Traditionally, gyms offer a wide range of different equipment for both strength training and aerobic exercise. That's great, but sometimes it can be a headache not knowing which ones to choose.
Adjusting gym equipment and weights: are you doing the work or is the equipment doing the work?
Let's take a quick four (4) question quiz!
1. Which of these statements is NOT true?
The EGYM devices used at MyHub are:
a) Silent
b) Intelligent
c) Easily adjustable
2. Resistance/weight in EGYM devices?
a) Always selected at the beginning of training
b) Automatically adjusts to your own strength level and development
c) Adjusted from the left side of the device
3. Counting repetitions when training with MyHub?
a) It is your responsibility
b) No need to think – the devices tell you when to start and when to stop
c) Only do it until it sours
4. Performing movements on EGYM equipment?
a) Taught separately
b) Comes with voice control
c) The correct trajectories and frequency are displayed in real time on the screen in front of you.
Correct answers:
1. c) Easily adjustable – because you don’t have to adjust them yourself at all. You just swing the bracelet in front of the device, and the device automatically adjusts the height and distances to suit you. Yay!
2. b) Automatically adjusts to your strength level and development. When you start training with MyHub, you first complete a strength level test and body composition measurement, which determines your personal program in the EGYM devices' memory. The devices regularly guide you to a new strength test, based on which your program – and at the same time the weights – are updated.
3. b) No need to think – the devices tell you when to start and when to stop. This has been my personal favorite. How can it be so hard to count, do and breathe at the same time?
4. c) The correct trajectories and frequency are displayed on the screen in front of you in real time. Yes, and there's a fun twist in that you collect points at the same time - just like playing the game of Worms on a Nokia 3310 (I googled it, and they're back on sale, by the way!). Could this bring the fun to training that the crowd has been clamoring for?
If you got all four correct, you are a true MyHub and EGYM expert! 👀 If anything surprised you or makes you suspicious, come and take a look or send a message to info@myhub.fi (experts are there to answer).
In a traditional gym, it's usually a good idea to watch the equipment adjustments and movements with someone - or at least read the text on the equipment that explains what to adjust, where, and why. Fellow trainers and staff will be happy to help, so feel free to ask for help!
A big plus with MyHub: everyone can train truly and safely thanks to all this.

Training planning: With Hub you don't have to plan anything (well, maybe when you'll arrive)
There is a lot of help available for planning gym workouts. Many gym chains offer personal guidance right from the start, videos on the subject are available to watch, personal trainer services are available to purchase, and all sorts of handy apps are available. In other words, help is available.
With MyHub, your workout is always ready in the memory of your EGYM devices after your first visit. The workout is based on your individual needs and goals. Your information is yours, so it is not visible to anyone – data protection issues are in order. This is what I was told when I first got to test EGYM and questioned the same thing.
So, to recap: you can follow the training program whenever you visit MyHub, and your muscle training will continue where you left off.
Workout duration: 29 minutes, no more (unless you want to)
Research shows that two workouts per week are the optimal amount of time to build muscle strength. With MyHub, one workout is two rounds – a total of 29 minutes per workout . One round only takes 14.5 minutes, so your workout is intense and effective.
When you get stronger and have enough enthusiasm, you can add a third training day. I've always thought that one day I'd do arms, the second day my core, and the third day my legs – or something like that. This "twice a week" idea has given me a lot of flexibility and enthusiasm to keep going.
Of course, everyone has their own style and finds their own best ways. A big recommendation for personal trainer services, if you are at all interested in one!
In circuit training, you work through all muscle groups in one workout. In MyHub, the workout is done as a circuit, meaning you work through all the equipment in one workout. The device also guides you through the necessary recovery time before moving on to the next piece of equipment and takes into account your fellow exercisers. You no longer have to worry about your fellow exerciser next to the equipment and tie your shoelaces for the third time .
Good to know!
According to studies, muscle conditioning training done twice a week:
• Improves posture and reduces back and neck problems
• Increases metabolic activity, helping with weight management
• Supports bone health and muscle balance
• Prevents falls and injuries as you age
• Increases energy, focus and overall well-being
Progress tracking: all data in one place
All your exercises are saved in the EGYM cloud service (still secure). You can track your progress via the EGYM app, which you can download and use on MyHub – and it's free.
EGYM collects points for you from both MyHub workouts and other connected devices, such as a smartwatch. This gives you a comprehensive picture of your own activity. You can collect all your step counts, Strava, etc. in one place and admire your progress!
You can also check your progress on-site from the central device in the gym. And if this doesn't resonate, just go – and you'll notice the difference .
When working out alone at a traditional gym, it can sometimes be challenging to see progress. Try adding weight to your pack at regular intervals and see how you feel, or find out about your gym's progress tracking services.
But how on earth is only 8 pieces of equipment enough for muscle training?
All of this training with MyHub and EGYM equipment is science-based, AI-assisted, smart strength training.
The devices are prone to all of these:
-
Adaptive – resistance decreases if the user's strength decreases
Negative – resistance higher during recovery phase
Isokinetic – resistance depends on the pressure generated by the trainee
Explosive – rapid acceleration to maximum
Normal – resistance is constant, like in regular strength training
Training lives with you all the time.
Beginners should start by alternating "normal" and "negative" at the beginning. So-called pumpers (apparently) get excited about that isokinetic.
So there's something for everyone! If you're reading this and have been working out at the gym for a while, come and try this out too.

"I don't belong here" – or the traditional gym environment is not appealing
At the beginning, I mentioned that EGYM has studied people's feelings of not belonging to the gym community. At MyHub, we do our own training – but together. The place is small and simple, and you'll probably start to run into familiar faces soon. Get moving, you know!
This is where everything belongs. But don't bring a friend just to watch, but also to do it. Because once you try it yourself, you want your friend to actually try it too, and not just sit around and comment.
And as an environment, MyHub is significantly different from a traditional gym: a small, kiosk-like feel, the equipment is relatively silent, and there are no free weights, cardio equipment, or large mirrors everywhere.
What about the price?
Someone may think, "Sounds good, but probably expensive."
Good news: MyHub's pricing is competitive compared to traditional gyms. Considering that you get a personalized training program that evolves over time, automatic progress tracking, equipment that does all the (extra) work for you (if only it would do everything else 😅) AND a body composition measurement that you can take as often as you want - the package really makes sense.

PST! GO TO THE GYM NOW
Do you already work out regularly at a traditional gym? Great! But do you want to try something new or make your workout more effective? MyHub can help:
For a change – When you need a change from your routine or when your holiday venue closes
-
As an enhancer – Negative and isokinetic resistance provide new stimuli for the muscles
A solution to time pressure – 29 minutes saves the day during a busy week
As a data lover – If you like to follow developments closely and want everything tracked in one app
Many people find that EGYM equipment is a great complement to free-form training. Come and test how it feels when the equipment forces you to work through a full range of motion and at the right pace – you might be surprised!
