What if your workout only lasted a little over 14 minutes, but you could still feel it tomorrow? MyHub, which opened in Punavuori, breaks the traditional gym formula: eight smart devices, data as a guide, and zero adjustments. This place is not a time waster – this is a gym for results.
A "gym" opened in Punavuori, Helsinki, in November , and it immediately felt like home. It's called MyHub , and the workout there lasts either 14.5 or 29 minutes. There are eight pieces of equipment. No endless jungle of equipment, no sauna or shower, which I wouldn't use anyway, because I shower at home. A four-week training period costs 59 euros - and that's not much considering that I get comprehensive information about my fitness every day.
MyHub is full of sense. Egym is based on electronic smart gym equipment.
Before the first workout, I undergo a comprehensive fitness test to measure my maximum muscle strength. And now the moment when I could keep quiet – but I won’t: the test revealed that my muscle condition corresponds to the level of a 21-year-old. I’m not going to pawn this information. Life is too short for modesty when the data is on your side. My mobility was also significantly better than my age. What a boost to my self-esteem!
After testing, I get a bracelet with automatically adjusted resistance for a 14.5-minute circuit-style workout. No guessing, no manual adjustments, no incorrectly set weights in a hurry.
Getting to know the equipment - the first EGYM workout
The first machine felt deceptively easy. The chest-fatiguing movement was controlled, the resistance precise, and all the adjustments just right. For a moment, I thought this was too easy to be effective. Then I glanced at the screen: there was still plenty of time left to collect points through repetitions.
On the second device, breathing began to quicken – not dramatically, but creepily, the way the body realizes it's working but the mind is still trying to negotiate.
With the third and fourth devices, shortness of breath was already a fact. No gasping, but deep, steady breathing that you can't fake. At this point I realized that there really are no breaks – transitions are part of the workout. My heart rate doesn't drop, even when the scenery changes.
The biggest surprise came from the device, which targeted the core. Every once in a while, the resistance hit the exact spot on the opposing muscles where technique is crucial and even the slightest cheating is immediately revealed. No speed, no gimmicks. Just muscle burn and movement.
Somewhere around the seventh machine, I finally realized that 14.5 minutes is not a short workout. It's intense. It's uninterrupted. That's all I wanted to do the first time.
MyHub's Chief Operating Officer Maija Kiljunen confirms my feelings about who the hall is made for:
"For busy people over 40 who want a quick and easy targeted workout. No feeling, no “when you have time” thinking. Let's get straight to the point."
I'm doing this just for myself – and orthodoxly.
I tested the equipment out of curiosity. And I was surprised. This was not a light workout, but a really tough one. So intense that the next day the workout feels exactly where it should be.
What's motivating here is that the progress is monitored objectively and personally. No one else sees my results. No comparison, no shame. I do this only for myself – and orthodoxly. This radically distinguishes MyHub from a traditional gym. The training is not based on a feeling, but on facts.
There are already over 15,000 Egym gyms around the world. If I go on a trip, I pack a little bracelet with me. A little chip that identifies me. I can walk into an Egym gym anywhere in the world and get a workout that's optimized for me. No memorized program. No “what did I do last time” moments. This is Netflix logic for muscles.
Wellbeing services are moving from performance to guidance
MyHub and Egym don't just sell a place to work out. They sell making decision-making easier.
And that's the big silent signal of the moment: wellness services are moving from execution to control. Less adjustment, more value. Less time, more results.
This is going to change the entire fitness industry. Especially for those of us who have limited free time and a personal trainer doesn't fit into our budget or calendar. For those of us who aren't experts in the field but still want a personalized workout.
Maybe efficiency no longer means more time, but less hassle. Maybe a good workout doesn't come from sweating for hours, but from someone else already thinking for you. MyHub doesn't promise miracles – it promises common sense. And that's why 14.5 minutes is enough.
